Good Monday morning healing team!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! What was the best part of your Christmas? For me, it was spending time with my family.
I usually leave home before my wife and son wake up. When I get home, I have about 1-2 hours with my son before he goes to bed.
It was nice to be there or I should say it was nice still sleeping when he waked up and jumped on me to wake me up and spend time playing with him being a 3 years old again.
I was amazed about his ability for imagination and pretending. For him, a long rectangle empty chocolate box can be a cool looking bullet train.
He loves trains and being pretend to be a train. He told me to hold a stick and tell me to be a rail road crossing and he was a train, a long train with a blanket tucked in in his pants so he could drag a blanket pretend to be a long train.
When he ran toward me I had to lower a stick with sound effect so a train (he) could pass by safely without hitting any cars.
Then he told me he wanted to study. He wanted me to write down the number from 1-100 on the board and we went over together in Japanese. He was having a hard time getting a concept of 20, 30, 40 and so on. (I mostly speak him with Japanese. In Japanese, we say two-ten for twenty and three-ten for thirty.)
He can say twenty because he knows it but when he gets to thirty, he says thirteen instead of thirty. Teaching my son that there are three tens in thirty and thirteen is just thirteen was very challenging with a fifteen seconds attention span.
At the end, I realized his definition of studying is not the same definition as mine.
I learned with three years old, playing is the life. Playing is playing, studying, eating, crying, bathing, sleeping and putting a blue play doh on the wall and throwing everything.
Have a wonde rful week and a Happy New Year!!
We are in the office every day rest of the year and we are off on January 1st 2015 and we will be back in the office on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 at 8am.
