As a healthcare provider, I am always learning. Sometimes, that learning comes from my own experience.
My headache started after catching a common cold and lying in bed for a few days. Usually, my headache goes away as I recover, but this time, it stayed even after I felt better.
I went back to working out, but after a few weeks of living with this persistent headache — and feeling a bit “depressed” that it might never go away — I started to notice tingling in my left pinky finger. I knew it was a pinched nerve, so I treated myself with chiropractic care, acupuncture, and a cervical traction unit.
Not only did the tingling in my pinky finger improve, but my headache also started getting better at the same time. Eventually, both the tingling and the headache went away.
My headache was caused by irritation and inflammation of the cervical discs.
If your headache starts at the back of your neck and travels to the back of your head, temples, or even behind your eyes, you may have a similar condition.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, there’s a high possibility that your neck discs are irritated or inflamed — a condition that often doesn’t appear on an MRI — and we can help you:
- Woke up with a “crick” in your neck or limited neck range of motion
- Difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position
- Tried many pillows but never seem to find a comfortable one
- Feels like your head is “too heavy” for your neck
- Wake up in the morning or during the night with numbness or tingling in your arms or hands
